Collections and Resources

Learn more about the diversity of materials held by the HMRC. Collections include photographs, maps, architectural drawings, and other archival materials. An assortment of these materials have been digitized for view via the Houston Area Digital Archives.

The HMRC provides in-person, telephone, and e-mail reference service, and photo reproduction services, as well as all necessary support for viewing collection materials.

Support the HMRC

There are a number of ways you can help to support the HMRC, through one of our benefactors or through the
Houston Public Library System.

Julia Ideson Building

Learn about the historic Julia Ideson Building, home of the HMRC, and its recent restoration, supported by the Julia Ideson Library Preservation Partners.

New to the Collections

Find out about the HMRC's recent acquisitions. We are continually adding resources to the Texas Room's holdings as well as processing archival collections. Keep abreast of these additions with the HMRC Gazette.

The current exhibit, Hermann Park Centennial, highlights photographs and documents from HMRC and the Hermann Park Conservancy that depict the Park's history and upcoming additions. The exhibition is open through July 26, 2014.
